Description

It happened again: you thought you had set clear goals for the company, but at the end of the year results are disappointing. People worked hard, but for some reason all the efforts of the individual employees and their departments didn’t add up to one clear successful achievement. Your employees don’t seem to be happy either. They complain about the company goals to be “pushed” to them, while at the same time clear direction on how to create value is lacking. You know that alignment between the strategy defined at the top and the collective intelligence of the employees is a common challenge to many large companies. You may even have learnt about OKRs, a widely recognized way to overcome this challenge. You struggle to apply this knowledge to unleash the full potential of the entire workforce of your company though. Does the situation described above sound familiar to you? Are you eager to change this, as a manager, team member or coach? And are you open to an experience that can be best described as "a little crazy"? Then this collective goal setting gamification is designed for you! Come and join the company "Best4Bats" and help them prevent the spreading of a new Covid-pandemic while staying true to their mission to "create a world where humans and bats live peacefully together". Together with your team you experience three types of goal setting during this game: the full autonomy of bottom-up goal setting, the command and control of top-down goal setting and the potential of collective goal setting. You find out how each type influences the choices you make and how this impacts the company's success. After the game you reflect on what happened: which key ingredients of effective goal setting did you discover? And which learnings from Best4Bats can you apply at your own organization? No animals are harmed during this fun and interactive game!
