We sit in a pervasive meta-crisis (crisis of crises), from environmental degradation to socioeconomic disruption, yet it is clear we lack a collective ability to correct course. Massive corporate investments in agile, digital, environmental, etc. change initiatives have been disappointing. Yet rare “islands of coherence” exist, allowing some organizations to thrive against the odds. How do we create more lighthouses? As an agile community, we’re at a turning point. After years of bureaucratic, management consultant-driven implementations, agile risks being dismissed.
Even so, agilists are positioned to lead the way, understanding both digital and social high-tech, enabling co-creation of regenerative solutions. As AI and other technologies accelerate the meta-crisis, real transformation becomes essential. This talk explores a new paradigm – Regenerative Enterprise Transformation – shifting from “degenerative” through “sustainable” to “regenerative.” Deep change is not catalyzed from another framework; we must address outdated leadership thinking, inadequate approaches to complexity, and the cumulative effect of our collective trauma.
