Team Autonomy Unleashed: A Blueprint for Self-Management
Description

Agile practitioners joke that self-management remains a mysterious grail, and the path to it is known only to the chosen ones. How can we overcome the team's passivity? Why is the Scrum Master running errands and stretched thin? What needs to happen for the team to own and improve its way of working? Guidance on self-management is often techniques-focused, lacks a system perspective, or focuses on qualities that a self-managed team should have without explaining how to achieve them. Scrum Masters, Agile leaders, and coaches face challenges in helping teams advance their ability to embrace autonomy and own decision-making. Their efforts often don't lead to sustained change. Tools and techniques may not fit the context, or the team doesn't progress for unknown reasons. At times, it even seems that leaders get in the way too. In this workshop, you will help a Scrum team move from awaiting instructions to becoming one that leverages space and empowerment. We will look into practices and behaviors that a true leader needs to show to facilitate the process towards self-management, along with anti-patterns to be avoided. You will enhance your toolkit of coaching interventions and design a coaching plan to grow team self-management.
