Many companies waste substantial time searching for relevant and correct knowledge in their information systems due to inefficient practices of storing knowledge in artefacts. This process can increase lead times, which ultimately impact costs. In this paper, we critically reflect on the importance of managing knowledge as a resource due to its great potential to create economic value and share our experiences with industry partners regarding the transformation of knowledge in boundary artefacts. We discuss the challenges associated with their management and discuss solutions to maximise their utility.
