Name
Product Value Curves | A practical approach to building effective product strategy
Description

Have you ever had to come up with a product strategy for an area which is already functioning well, critical to business/your organization and involves tools/services used by different stakeholders who are all measuring successfully? If yes, this session is for you. I will share my personal experience of building a product strategy and roadmap impacting billions of transactions done and products sold on Amazon, involving multiple stakeholder teams with conflicting success metrics by starting from users, jobs to be done and product value curves. This is practical for large- and small-scale products equally and enables creation of multi-year product roadmaps with incremental wins to users and business value.

We will go through an example to understand how a product strategy and multi-year product roadmap can be built.
A product might offer multiple functionalities. We will specifically look at the problem space from a product angle and start from users.
The key concepts which we will go through are:

a) How to identify the customers and define the jobs to be done. We will specifically talk about creating boundaries for the product offerings.
b) Introduce the concept of product value curves and use it for defining the product strategy and roadmap.
c) Convert the product roadmap into an operational plan for the year and define viable success metrics which can be tracked YoY.
