Name
Zombie Apocalypse! Burnout, Conflict, Stress (& hope) for teams facing Chaos (Ceri Sargunar)
Description

It's the end of the world as we know it!
Neatly sidestepping misleading pseudoscience and unhelpful Pop Psych, this practical and unthreateningly interactive session will walk through the social, psychological and neuroscientific factors that make teamwork during an international crisis so challenging.
We'll explore the science behind what happens in our brains and bodies (and why) when we experience extremely challenging events - and you'll discover how this affects our ability to stop, collaborate and listen.
And then, without a squeezy ball in sight, we'll look at real steps and activities to help your team(s) to pull through and work together more effectively, when the going gets tough.

Learning Outcomes:

  • A clear understanding of where our stress reactions come from, and what big emotions are good for
  • A memorable way to understand what happens in your brain under stress (it's got nothing to do with lizards).
  • Insight into how our personality and reactions can impact on teamwork, both in the office and online, and ideas on how to support this.
  • Awareness of the immediate and wider impact of workplace drama in communication, conflict and feedback.
  • Tools, activities and practices to help team members work with stress, overwhelm and unhealthy conflict (with or without the added influence of a pandemic.)
  • The ability to easily identify the folks in your team that might need extra support - before it becomes critical!
