Name
From Zero to Ally: Creating a Diverse and Inclusive Workplace with Design Thinking (Celeste Benavidez, Valentina Navarrete)
Description

Imagine this:
You arrive at a new job, and you realize that all the stairs around you are large climbing walls, you go to the bathroom, and there are no handles to use it safely, and everyone seems to speak a strange dialect of which you understand only a couple of words.

Something like that is a reality for thousands of people as customers, users, or co-workers. Today you can learn some tools to upskill your practice as a Design Thinker and create more value for everybody (not just for a few).

If you don't know that Diversity and Inclusion can help you connect better with your team and audience but also help you to build better products and services and, at the end, deliver more value, this talk is for you.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the importance of concepts such as Empathy, Diversity, and Inclusion in the field of discovering products and solutions and in every work that involves People (clients, users, teammates, etc.).
  • Reframe your current way of thinking through the perspectives given by the tools we develop and present (Shadows of Diversity and Inclusion; Cheat sheet to design with DE&I)
  • Develop your own way to address Diversity and Inclusion in your work today, starting from the main three aspects shared in this talk (The Method, The Team, The Users).
