The Daily Debate at Agile 2023: The "Necessary Evils" Which Keep Agility Growing (Melissa Boggs)
Description

Calling all curious minds, people of conviction, and everyone interested in engaging with profound knowledge! The Daily Debate at Agile 2023 is a lively arena open to everyone to participate in debate, discussion, and discourse of the most thought-provoking questions facing the agile community today. Featuring a carefully facilitated debate structure with a team-based, inclusive approach to participation, the Daily Debate is the place to challenge beliefs, question the status quo, and open new doors of knowledge!
In this debate, come be a part of a lively session unpacking the pros and cons to:

The "industry" of agile, including certifications and scaling frameworks, are a "necessary evil" to support the growth of agility in our organizations today

This isn't a traditional debate, of course! Whether you were a debate champion in the past, or new to the art of debate, everyone is welcome and equally capable of participating, sharing ideas, and learning! During this session, participants will form teams -- including options for folks who simply want to observe. Each team will have 20 minutes of preparation for their cerebral battle, with two nominated debaters from each who will represent their teams in a head-to-head, 2v2 dialogue about the "audacious topic" of common practices in the workplace. If you are in a more reflective mood, a third team will be available to participate in a more passive and observing way. Moderators will keep the debate moving in a cable news style fashion, injecting levity and boundaries for conversation.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Diverse viewpoints
  • Challenge your thinking
  • Have some enlightening fun
