Name
Modelling Business Architecture & Team Topologies with Event Storming
Nick Tune Zsofia Herendi
Description

The architecture of a business has a key impact on the rate at which products are developed. Organizational structures, business capabilities, business processes, software systems and other aspects of business architecture need to be continuously and consciously designed so that teams are empowered to make changes rapidly. This is a hands-on workshop where business, product, and technology leaders will get to learn about modern techniques that are used to design digital operating models for a fast flow of changes. Attendees of this workshop will see how Event Storming is used to map out end-to-end business processes collaboratively, building a shared understanding of how the organization really works. Then, attendees will be working in small groups to slice up the Event Storm into business capabilities aligned to the business strategy. Following the identification of possible domain boundaries, the next step is to assess if the domain boundaries are suitable value stream boundaries, aka team boundaries. During this workshop, attendees will have the chance to apply concepts from Team Topologies, like cognitive load and interaction modes, to refine domain boundaries so that they are suitable value stream and team boundaries.
